Improving student academic and behavior outcomes is about ensuring that all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented instructional and behavioral practices and interventions possible. PBIS provides an operational framework for achieving these outcomes. More importantly, PBIS is NOT a curriculum, intervention, or practice, but IS a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students.
Haviland
’s Logo
Haviland
’s logo contains the four essentials expected from Haviland Middle School students. The words respect, inspire, safe, and excel were chosen by the PBIS team after accepting input from both students and faculty members. The expectations are upheld in all areas of the school including the classroom, hallway, and cafeteria. The slogan, "RISE Above" is an acronym used to associate the expectations and the school’s mascot, the hawk.
Gotcha Tickets
Gotcha Tickets are given to students who exhibit positive behaviors in the classroom and the hallways. Positive behaviors reflect the
"RISE Above" expectations and are reinforced by the use of the Gotcha Tickets. The tickets are collected in the main office. At the end of each month, a Gotcha winner is chosen from each grade level to earn an incentive.
Hawk
’s Bucks
Hawks Bucks are given to students who exhibit positive behaviors in the cafeteria. Positive behaviors reflect the
"RISE Above" expectations and are reinforced by the use of the Hawk’ s Bucks. The students collect the "bucks" and can use them to purchase small items.
