On December 13, 2007, district voters approved a referendum for Phase 2A, which included restoration and rehabilitation of infrastructure, particularly restoration of historic schools, as well as security upgrades to all district schools. Following state approval of the architect's designs and plans for Phase 2A, construction on the three segments (I, II, and III) of Phase 2A began in late summer of 2008.
Phase 2A I, II and III were all completed well under budget, with the District benefitting from a highly competitive bidding environment due to the economy. Phase 2A IV projects will be undertaken during the summers of 2010 and 2011; projects include replacement of vinyl asbestos tile with vinyl composite tile in various schools, and other projects included in the original referendum scope.
Additionally in May 2010, district voters approved a referendum that allowed the use of $1.9 million to fund to health and safety related projects: the replacement of the North Park Elementary School bridge and the reconstruction of the Haviland Middle School bus loop. These two projects are known as Phase 2A V and were completed over the summer of 2011.
On December 6, 2011 the district will be asked to vote on a referendum for Phase 3 capital work. Please see the Facilities Steering button for updated information on these exciting projects.
