This class is a New York State mandated program.  A special variance has been received from NYS which allows students to earn ½ unit of high school credit by successfully completing this class. Each student will be required to create of portfolio of class assignments.  The portfolio will be used instead of a final exam. The following criteria will be used to determine who is eligible to receive high school credit.

• Have a class average of  80% or better.
• Exhibit positive attitude.
• Accept responsibility for following rules and procedures. (Students must have 5 or less LAWS teacher issued referrals or detentions.)
• Use problem solving strategies.
• Work productively when independent tasks are required.
• Work cooperatively in group situations.
• Complete assignments on time.

RULES

  1.  Come to class PREPARED each day with your folder, 

           homework, pen/pencil AND a POSITIVE attitude.

  2.  Be respectful and courteous to each other.

  3.  Be polite and cooperative.

  4.  Raise your hand for the teacher to call on you.

  5.  Food and soda/Snapple are NOT to be brought into the

        classroom. 

  6.  All cleanup work in the kitchen and sewing lab must be

       SHARED.

  7.  Ask if you don't understand, or ask the teacher for help after

        class or during lunch.

  8.  NO gum chewing in the COMPUTER LAB.

  9.  ONLY ONE (1) emergency bathroom pass each quarter.

GRADING

ALL assignments are graded.  Averages will be determined using the following formula:

Homework - 10%

Class work/Food Labs - 35%

Projects/Tests - 55%
