Medical Makeups
PURPOSE: To continue to educate our students about physical fitness, wellness, nutrition and sport when they are unable to participate actively in the physical education class. PROJECT GUIDELINES: 1. For every day under two weeks (1 to 4 class periods), the student will complete an article critique. That means you will do one critique for every day that you are out of class. They will be worth 4 points each. Directions and articles are listed below. 2. For every 2 WEEKS a student is missing Physical Education, (5 class periods), you will complete a 3-4 page research paper. This will be worth 20 points. Directions and projects are listed below. Article Critique (4 pts.) 1. Choose an article (EBSCO username and password are both fdrhs) 2. Select Topic Search, then type the title of the article you are searching for. 3. Read and type a brief summary highlighting the main points of the article. 4. Include how the information in the article may be helpful in your own life. Article 1 - Promotion and Advancement of Women in Sports. (02/01/2006) Article 2 - Obesity: A generation at risk. (10/05/2005) Article 3 - Food Pyramid Gets New Look. (04/20/2005) Article 4 - Toxic Strength. (04/11/2005) Article 5 - Profile: New daily physical fitness program in Illinois. (05/23/2004) Research Paper Directions (20 pts.) 1. Topic: Choose one of the projects listed below. 2. Must be TYPED, 12pt. Font & double-spaced. Put your name, your teacher's name, days of class and assignment # at the top of the page. 3. Paper must include: a. Introduction paragraph: about the topic, in your own words. b. Body: answering and discussing the outlined questions. c. Conclusion: summarize main points of topic, answer and discuss outlined points.
