About Me
My name is Dan Hurley and I am a school psychologist at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in the Hyde Park Central School District. I am originally from Queens, but have lived in a few different parts of New York State. I attended SUNY Plattsburgh, where I majored in psychology. After earning my Bachelor's Degree, I stayed in Plattsburgh and enrolled in the school psychology graduate program. Following my coursework, I completed my internship in the Plattsburgh City School District, working in 2 elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. After leaving Plattsburgh, I moved to Auburn (near Syracuse) and worked in the Moravia Central School District. While in Moravia, I served as the school psychologist for the middle school and the high school. In 2004, I moved to the Mid-Hudson Valley; however, this was not my first time here. During college and graduate school, I spent parts of many summers working in Ulster County at a camp for children with various disabilities. After working at Violet Avenue School and Netherwood Elementary School during the 2004-2005 school year, I moved to FDR High School. I hold New York State certification as a school psychologist. I am a member of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the New York Association of School Psychologists (NYASP). I am also a New York State Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a volunteer in the Roosevelt Fire District. I live in Hyde Park with my wife (a special education teacher), our 2 sons, daughter, a cat, and a dog.
