Students AND parents: This is from 2007-08 school year, but we should never forget... This is a "thank-you" note I received from my friend Amy Cornwall-Robinson, who teaches chorus in Red Hook. The young girl who died in the car crash was a student in her chorus, and another girl from the chorus is a "survivor" - please read and remember; PLEASE be careful when you drive yourself AND when you drive other people; the driver of the car is still alive, and graduated from Red Hook in 2007. Can you imagine what it feels like to be that driver, or this "survivor", or this teacher, or students in the chorus, or the parents of these children? PLEASE DON'T EVER FORGET HOW MUCH THOSE WHO LOVE YOU WILL BE SUFFERING IF YOU WERE TO HAVE SUCH A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT ! BE CAREFUL ... I don't ever want to write such a note as this about one of you..."Hi Laurie, Thanks for your note about Alex. That was a difficult week and hasn't let up all that much. Alex was a terrific girl and we are still dealing with her loss plus Bronwyn who was in the accident with her. She was also in chorus and sat in the same row. I'm sure she won't make it back to school this year. She has a traumatic brain injury, has her jaw wired shut, a trach tube, and survived two surgeries on her liver. They had to shave her head because of the brain swelling and drainage tubes, I know her hair will grow back, but to see herself in the mirror without all that red hair will be traumatic in itself. I have no idea if she even knows her friend died. Some of my other students have visited her, but she is still sedated most of the time. She was moved to a rehab hospital in Schnectady last weekend.""
We LOVE having a DOUBLE-PERIOD REHEARSAL ! ! !
