Violet Avenue Principal Aviva Kafka May 2010     Dear Violet Avenue Families,   April was busy at Violet Avenue and it went quickly!  We had a lovely all school meeting with student performances.  Math Carnival Night was a huge success.  The swing dancing program was a great experience for our 4th and 5th grade students.  We are also so excited with the addition of the climbing wall in our gymnasium!  Students in grades 3rd-5th took the statewide English Language Arts test and take the math test the first week in May.   We have an exciting reptile assembly coming up.  An artist in residence will be working with 2nd grade students.  Remember to come to Haviland Middle School on Tuesday, May 18th for the school budget vote.  I will be serving pasta there!   As you know, my last day at Violet Avenue is Friday, May 21st.  Jim Welling will be the interim principal until the end of the school year.  I am so very pleased to welcome your new principal, Deanna Gonzalez, who will be starting here July 1st.    I know I’ve already said this to you, but I must repeat that it has been the greatest joy for me to work with your children and I will miss seeing them every day!   Thank you for everything you do to help your children learn!       Sincerely,     Aviva Kafka Your Principal
